Time Has Come To Develop Software Products Of Our Own: IT Secretary

These days, India is showing tremendous enthusiasm in the IT sector. Software and Mobile App Development Services are revolutionizing the Indian market and dramatically improving ROI. In a recent report, a top official on Tuesday said that India should develop software products of its own. He further said that the software can be used not just in the country, but in the global markets as well. Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Electronics and IT Secretary, said that India has huge capabilities in developing software for the various industries like healthcare, logistics, education, agriculture, etc.

“While we have been extremely strong in IT services, the area of software products is one where we are dependent on products coming from all parts of the world. We are happy and confident users of products from wherever they come. It’s time to change that. It is time to have a software product of our own– not just for India, but for the global market,” Sawhney said at a FICCI virtual conference.

“We have strength in IT and IT services. Almost all the technology companies across the globe have significant presence in India. The contribution that is made to global products and services by Indian designers and engineers is immense and it is growing significantly. We are trying to move towards software products,” Sawhney said.

Further, he said that the Covid-19 pandemic has made everyone realise that there is a need for huge software products from India. To promote the Indian IT sector, the government has started giving cash prizes to entrepreneurs and startups who develop software. Moreover, the government’s online citizen engagement platform has received 6,940 entries under the contest in several categories that include 1,142 under business, 1,155 under social networking, 1,062 under e-learning, 901 under health & wellness, 326 under games, 237 under news, 662 under office and work-from-home, and 320 under the entertainment category.

“We are now scrutinising all the applications and we have found that there is huge potential to develop software products in India,” MyGov CEO Abhishek Singh said.

Sawhney said mobile assembling in India has grown over 10 fold in the last six years and there is now huge scope in the development of electronic segments in the country.

“We see tremendous opportunity in medical devices, automotive electronics, defence electronics, consumer electronics, industrial electronics, drones, and robotics. I think we have tremendous potential in all these areas. We have tremendous potential today. There is room to grow very quickly in all these segments,” he said.

Google Employees Will Work From Home Until July, 2021

Google and its parent company, Alphabet, will keep their employees working from home until June 30, 2021, looking at the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the company said on Monday.

Google was previously planning to bring its employees back to the office by the first or second week of January 2021. But now they have postponed their plan of reopening offices because of concerns over the coronavirus pandemic. With this, Google has become the first tech corporation to extend its remote working policy into the middle of next year.

“To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we are extending our global voluntary work from home option through June 30, 2021, for roles that don’t need to be in the office,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in an email to employees.

As per the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the news, nearly all of the 200,000 Google employees, including both full-time and contractors, worldwide would see an extension of the option which had been set to end in January.

Pichai made the decision to establish a more specific time frame for remote working in part to give Google employees with families more certainty about how long they would be working from home, as many are struggling with inconsistent direction from school districts, the WSJ reported.

Other tech majors and large employers are expected to follow Google’s extended remote work policy to stop the spread of Coronavirus. Amazon and Apple have said they might bring back at least some workers to their offices in January.

Quantum Loop- US Reveals Blueprint For ‘Virtually Unhackable’ Internet

We all know that hacking is possible in the world of the internet and we all are using the internet regardless of it because we are addicted to it. Now the time has come to change this perception because US officials and scientists have started the groundwork for a more secure “virtually unhackable” internet based on quantum computing technology. Cybersecurity industry worth billions of dollars, highlights the scale of the data protection and privacy issues that many consumers, businesses, and governments face while using the internet.

During a press conference held on July 23, Department of Energy (DOE) officials issued a report that shows a blueprint strategy for the development of a national quantum Internet, using the laws of quantum mechanics to move important data more securely than on existing networks. The DOE is working with universities and industry researchers on engineering with the aim of completing it within the next ten years. And this will move the U.S. to the “forefront of the global quantum race.”

Recently in February 2020, scientists from DOE’s Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Chicago made a 52-mile “quantum loop” in the Chicago suburbs, which is believed to be one of the longest land-based quantum networks in the nation.

One of the hallmarks of quantum transmissions is that they are exceedingly difficult to eavesdrop on as information passes between locations,” according to the Energy Department statement.

“Scientists plan to use that trait to make virtually unhackable networks.”

The objective of this project is to create a secure network. With the help of this project, scientists will try to create a virtual unhackable network. The department says that the first use of this network will be in banking, health, national security, and aircraft communication.

“Eventually, the use of quantum networking technology in mobile phones could have broad impacts on the lives of individuals around the world,” the statement added.

Explain that the quantum network is based on a quantum computer. These computers are based on the principles of quantum mechanics. In ordinary computers, where chips are used for calculations, in a quantum computer, atoms are used instead of chips for calculations. In quantum computers, processes use cubits (partial 0 and partial 1) instead of binary digits.
