Quantum Loop- US Reveals Blueprint For ‘Virtually Unhackable’ Internet

We all know that hacking is possible in the world of the internet and we all are using the internet regardless of it because we are addicted to it. Now the time has come to change this perception because US officials and scientists have started the groundwork for a more secure “virtually unhackable” internet based on quantum computing technology. Cybersecurity industry worth billions of dollars, highlights the scale of the data protection and privacy issues that many consumers, businesses, and governments face while using the internet.

During a press conference held on July 23, Department of Energy (DOE) officials issued a report that shows a blueprint strategy for the development of a national quantum Internet, using the laws of quantum mechanics to move important data more securely than on existing networks. The DOE is working with universities and industry researchers on engineering with the aim of completing it within the next ten years. And this will move the U.S. to the “forefront of the global quantum race.”

Recently in February 2020, scientists from DOE’s Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Chicago made a 52-mile “quantum loop” in the Chicago suburbs, which is believed to be one of the longest land-based quantum networks in the nation.

One of the hallmarks of quantum transmissions is that they are exceedingly difficult to eavesdrop on as information passes between locations,” according to the Energy Department statement.

“Scientists plan to use that trait to make virtually unhackable networks.”

The objective of this project is to create a secure network. With the help of this project, scientists will try to create a virtual unhackable network. The department says that the first use of this network will be in banking, health, national security, and aircraft communication.

“Eventually, the use of quantum networking technology in mobile phones could have broad impacts on the lives of individuals around the world,” the statement added.

Explain that the quantum network is based on a quantum computer. These computers are based on the principles of quantum mechanics. In ordinary computers, where chips are used for calculations, in a quantum computer, atoms are used instead of chips for calculations. In quantum computers, processes use cubits (partial 0 and partial 1) instead of binary digits.
